Rockfish Coronavirus Action Plan

As the world adjusts to new norms and expectations, we’re enhancing the Rockfish experience for you. 

We have expanded our commitment to cleanliness and these strengthened procedures are designed to give you even greater confidence in our teams and the hospitality that they deliver.

 

Good Practice

We’re following all World Health Organisation and UK Government guidelines and have been actively following industry best practice from key bodies and specialists, as they have developed their strategies for us to adopt. We will continue to update our specific Risk Assessment, which identifies the possible risks and then develops the controls needed to reduce the risks. The result of this Risk Assessment is that we have invested in various types of equipment and implemented numerous policies and procedures into our sites to reduce the risk of infection and demonstrate to our guests that we offer an environment that is safe. We will continue to complete all necessary assessments and certification to validate our own policies. Please note that the guidance is changing constantly, so the following guidelines will continue to be adjusted as and when guidance is updated.

 

Communication

We’ll share as much information as possible to provide assurance and transparency prior to any visit to Rockfish. 

We will keep updated all our pre-arrival email communications to provide any additional information relating to health and hygiene, making sure that all our guests have received all necessary information to make the most of their visit.

We will have a dedicated member of staff who will also give you a brief outline of health and hygiene information on your arrival so that our guests can feel at ease when dining in the restaurant. 

 

Pre Arrival 

You can book direct online at www.therockfish.co.uk or by calling the restaurants directly, numbers are available on the website.   

We politely request that if you are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19 that you call us to postpone your visit. These include; A high temperature, a new and persistent cough and loss of taste and smell. Find out more by visiting the NHS website. 

 

Arrival 

Again we politely request that if you are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19 that you do not enter the restaurant. These symptoms include a high temperature, a new and persistent cough and a loss of taste and smell. 

Any guests or visitors displaying Covid-19 symptoms may be asked to leave the premises.

In order to manage potential pinch points, we ask that you arrive promptly at the designated time for your reservation.

Hand sanitising stations will be provided at our entry/exit points, and we request that all customers sanitise upon entering and leaving the building.

We have where possible streamlined the arrival process to allow for a fast and reduced-contact experience. All surfaces, door handles and equipment will be regularly cleaned and sanitised every 30 minutes. 

If you have any special requirements please let us know before you arrive so we can make the necessary preparations with everybody’s safety in mind.

 

Our restaurants and other public areas

For many, our Rockfish service is the highlight of a visit and we intend to take all necessary measures to deliver minimum contact, ensure the highest hygiene standards and safe distancing are maintained, without losing the magic.

Menus are now printed directly onto the single use table cloths, guests will be supplied with a disposable pencil and via order easy to follow order cards, so as to limit direct contact with our serving staff.

We have reconfigured our dining areas and other public spaces to ensure that safe distancing can be adhered to. 

Every table setting and area will be fully sanitised before and after each use to ensure no contamination occurs prior to your arrival. 

We have updated all our procedures to include extensive cleaning of all shared surfaces throughout the day by a dedicated person. 

Our usual high cleaning standards have been enhanced and updated to include a new risk-based approach and all team members have be trained accordingly, prior to re-opening.

Every service we will have a member of staff on site whose role is purely that of keeping the building safe and clean, they are also there to answer any queries relating to the current situation.

We have set up hand sanitising stations for you to use and we politely ask you use these when entering the building.

We have put in place simple one in, one out processes with all our toilet facilities and again these are cleaned thoroughly and regularly throughout the day. We ask for your assistance in adhering to these guidelines as much as possible during your visit.

When walking anywhere through the buildings, we will ask that you please use your discretion and consideration by keeping a social distance of a minimum 2 metres where possible between yourself and other guests.

Any and all printed material has been designed for single use and will be disposed of ecologically directly after use.

We have dedicated floor markings to assist you with maintaining a safe distance when in a queue either for a table or for the toilet.

 

Dining on the terrace:

Our terraces are on a first come, first serve basis and are not available for pre booking. The service on the terrace is technology based. You will need to download the 'Rockfish APP' from the app store to order for your food and drinks and we will bring them out to you while you take in the view. In order for us to comply with test and trace guidelines we will need to retain your name and contact number on arrival. these records will be kept temporarily and in accordance with the government and GDPR guidelines. 

 

Payment

We are encouraging cashless payments and contactless methods should be used where possible.

Card machines when used will be sanitised between every use.

The Rockfish App that is now available on the App stores for both Apple and Android devices will also in certain locations be available for self payment option, using credit card, paypal and Apple pay.

 

Our team: Training, hygiene & protection

All of our team have undergone comprehensive hospitality-focused training on how to prevent the contagion of Covid-19. We will continue to elevate our training as best practices evolve.

We will check the health of all staff on a daily basis. Staff will not work and will self-isolate for 14 days, if they have any sign of symptoms and be required to take a test. 

We are providing PPE and face masks for team members when safe distancing or the guidelines cannot be maintained as a preventative measure to keep you and our team safe.

We encourage our staff to wash their hands following the effective handwashing procedure more than regular throughout the day as gloves can sometime provide a false sense of security. 

Every team member has their own personal hand sanitiser which they will carry at all times. 

Hand sanitising stations are located at all entry and exit points back of house for the teams to use.

Our operating procedures are clearly displayed throughout the back of house areas and extensive training given to all staff members.

We will be operating small work teams ( cohorting ) for example team A and B to minimise the risk of infection. 

We are dedicated to ensure we keep up to date with any changes to government guidelines, and therefore, subject to the latest guidelines we will be constantly reviewing our processes and precautions. This guide will be constantly updated to give you the very latest information.

 

Guest Health

It is essential that you do not travel to visit Rockfish if you are unwell or are demonstrating any Covid symptoms (fever, cough, loss of taste / smell).

Please let us know if you are worried about your symptoms ahead of your visit and we will move your booking to a future date to suit you.

If you do not have a booking, we are required by government guidelines to take your name and contact number on arrival this is to assist the track and trace program. 

If you develop symptoms during your visit, we ask that you immediately head home to self-isolate and seek a test.
