Mackerel is fabulous eaten straight from the sea. It's succulent and juicy flesh is high in oil content, so it's wonderful grilled or barbecued. It is also a species that lends itself brilliantly to being preserved, like in our tinned bay mackerel.

Here are some of Mitch's favourite recipes that you can use when it's in season and available from the online seafood market, and some that also work brilliantly with tinned fish.

This mackerel recipe also works equally brilliantly with either our fresh mackerel fillets or tinned bay mackerel. If you used tinned there's no cooking required!

Sri Lankan-style mackerel curry

The delicious curry sauce in this mackerel recipe can be made in batches and frozen. Then simply defrost it, heat it up and stir in our tinned bay mackerel.
